Success!

So, I now have a kindle! I now have a few nice little japanese apps!

Human Japanese Lite (I will get the full version once i get 500 more coins!)
Anki (Droid Versions)
Kabuto (Not sure how I feel about this one yet)
JISHOP (Really like how I can use this to find things via Radicals.)
Kanji Recognizer (Perfect for me when I can't find things via Radicals. Just Draw out the kanji and hope I did the strokes right. It also shows you the stroke order when you do find it!)

Anki so far is my favorite because its a flash card type.  I have had it on my laptop but with other things I would be doing I would forget to bring it up and go through my 20 cards a day. I need

Kanji Recognizer is my second favorite! Once you find something you can ADD it yo Anki! You can draw out the kanji, and once you find it you can check the stroke order, see the codes for it and more. It's really nice.

With these apps, I will do my best to build my vocabulary. <3

Today's Learnings

Today, my dear readers, I made a new friend thanks to the Language Exchange. Junya-kun was very nice. We spent most of our time talking about which anime we liked. That was a lot of fun, mainly because a lot of the anime I mentioned were girly. He spoke in some Japanese which I somewhat understood, and I also got some new words to study. I kept saying えーっと a lot too. I am sure I made a big fool of myself during this time but I had a lot of fun. I remember him saying that he was from Osaka and asked if I knew Osaka. I know about Osaka because of an Anime character named Heiji. From there he asked where I was from and I gave my little joke about Ohio. Ohayou sounds like Ohio so I am from the state of good morning! During my time talking to Junya-kun, my cat decided to be obnoxious! At one point Junya had asked if I had a kid! When I explained that it was my cat, he laughed and said my cat was cute. My response to that was, 私の猫はだめです!(my cat is bad).  We talked about music, movies, and I once again got interested in Doraemon and need to find away to see it.  Thanks to him I even found out about a good song from one of my favorite artists that I didn't know existed! Next time I should ask him to recommend some anime and movies. <3

Here is the vocabulary list I made from the conversation:

ちがう  【違う】 chigau  (to differ (from);  to vary)

Now to take time to study these. Also a guild mate of mine and I will be study buddies. So now I have someone to quiz me and I'll quiz him in return. Started him on Japanese Pod 101's Kantan Kana series for the kana.

Conversation Success!

So I play a MMO called Lucent Heart. The english version shut down so the US players have to play the japanese version.

To find a conversation partner, I sent random people whispers: 英語はわかりますか? (do you under stand english?)
I got ignored once, got a response the second time which was, 分からないません。 (I don't under stand)

Third time is the charm. I don't understand the kanji for his user name so i asked him. he said 'GIN' 吟  so 吟さん and I partied up. we talked mostly in broken english, and a few of my attempts of japanese. one was "私はたすけです!” which i was trying to say "i'll help" he didn't correct me so I guess I did alright. after doing a few quests, I took notice that it was past the time I go to bed. So I said "私はねむりです。 ごめんなさい。 (I'm getting sleepy. I'm sorry)  and he understood! he said 'SLEEPY?' I explained in English that it was 9PM in the US where apparently it is 10AM in Tokyo Japan. We said next time we're both online, we'll chat more and said おやすみなさい to each other. Well his response was with out the なさい part. And I logged off.

Upon writing this blog entry I find that I made an utter fool of myself but am proud I found someone to chat with. Maybe one day I can convince him to get skype. I have reached one of my goals today, which was to make a friend who'd help me learn. And in the process I got to see a LOT of kanji.

Well to my non-existant readers. Demonskid / おにこ / 鬼子  is signing off for the night.

おやすみなさい!!!

Japanese; Reasons and Excuses

So today, I was bored and while searching for things about Rosetta Stone, I found a youtube video that pretty much listed reasons NOT to get the program. I found it funny and true and decided to watch this guy's other videos. After splitting my gut open from laughing at his videos, I decided to take a look at one of his sites. TextFugu.com

His list says to write out the reasons I want to learn Japanese and the things that are holding me back. So I am going to start with Why I want to learn and what all got me started and the story behind that.

Why do I want to Learn Japanese?

I want to learn Japanese to become a translator. A Translator for people to communicate when needed, and to translate manga professionally. I also wish to visit Japan some day and want to actually make friends in their own language and possible help them learn mine.

What started you on this?

When I was 13 an anime aired and I fell in love with the Theme Songs. The music and how things sounded
so beautiful and I was enraptured. So yes, when I was younger my reasons were "Because anime is so cool." but that has changed over the years.

My Excuses For Not Studying:

1. I am in the process of saving up money for a premium Japanese Pod Account.
2. I keep getting distracted and it is a VERY bad habit that I am working on. (My Main Problem)
3. The Area I live in does not have any Japanese programs near me that are cheap.
4. I am overly shy so talking to new people scares me and causes my anxiety to rage.

So Here is my list of reasons and excuses!
